Stay Connected with your University
Bangor University is proud to have alumni all over the world who continue to be engaged with their alma mater after they leave the University.
For many, Bangor University has made a significant difference to their professional and personal lives and they have a real desire to bring other Bangorians together and foster goodwill towards the University. Alumni volunteers are typically former students who have stayed connected with us and who share an interest in, and concern for, the growth of the University’s profile as a world-class institution, and the Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) is here to help support those volunteers who wish to give back to Bangor.
Volunteer-led events and activities are a means of building active relationships with a far greater number of alumni than would otherwise be possible through activities exclusively co-ordinated by DARO. Volunteers are advocates and enthusiastic communicators of Bangor’s mission and vision and there are a number of ways in which alumni can support Bangor University. Alumni volunteers have helped the University through activities such as:
- organising and assisting at reunions and events
- supporting students by giving career talks, providing CV/Job application advice etc
- helping the University to re-connect with other alumni
- providing alumni profiles
- supporting research at the University through business links
- setting up new alumni groups in their area
- helping with student recruitment activities (careers fairs etc)
The Alumni Advisory Board and the Development Board are the two volunteer organisations connected to Bangor’s Development and Alumni Relations Office.
A handbook for alumni volunteers who wish to support the activities of the Development and Alumni Relations Office is available here.
The Development and Alumni Relations team are available to discuss and advise on any aspect of the information contained within the handbook and will work collaboratively with volunteers on proposed activities.
