This course will run over 3 Thursdays: 19th, 26th September & 3rd October
Participants will gain an understanding of accounting and financial management, by the interpretation of financial statements and examination of basic management accounting techniques.
The module will cover the introduction of accounting terminology and the structure of financial statements for profit-making entities.
Focus will be on the interpretation of financial statements covering profitability, liquidity, working capital management, solvency, and risk and return.
Using the balanced scorecard model, the range of performance indicators relevant to a full assessment of performance will be discussed.
Examination of investment appraisal techniques and the use of variance analysis in budgeting is also included.
The course will benefit managers working in a non-accounting function whose job role requires an understanding of finance, or small business owners who require further understanding of accounting techniques and more.
