Laura is a part time lecturer at the School of Education and Human Development and is currently undertaking an EdD which looks to identify good practice and challenges in providing access to the curriculum for learners with SEN who are being educated through their second language. She graduated from Bangor with a BA hons in Primary Education (QTS) and taught in mainstream primary schools in and around East London and Essex and her most recent teaching role was as the Nursery, KS1 and later KS2 teacher at a special needs school and college in Harlow, Essex. Previous to teaching Laura was a Team Leader with the Specialist Children’s Service on Anglesey and also worked as a support worker for children with SEN, in the community and as a residential respite carer.

During her teaching degree Laura participated in the ERASMUS exchange completing a period of study at KPH Edith Stein, a specialist pedagogical college in Stams, Austria and was able to undertake observation periods at a Montessori school and outdoor kindergarten as well as mainstream schools. She continues to have professional links with the area and has visited on several occasions to facilitate English workshops for primary school children. More recently Laura was invited to participate in an ERASMUS+ project led by Prague based educational NGO, Schola Empirica which focused on the policies of pre-school education in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and the UK and methods to support social and emotional development of pre-school children as well as innovative inclusive practices for children from socially disadvantaged or culturally different environments.
