Facilities and Resources

Subject-area Centres

Model classrooms

Many subject areas in the School have model classrooms, which are designed to be good examples of teaching rooms, on the level of the primary school, the secondary school, and the university. These are equipped with a range of resources relevant to the subject, computer equipment and Interactive White Boards. Most of the teaching in Education courses takes place in these rooms, in the form of lectures, workshops, and seminars - or, as is usually the case, a mixture of these.

Physical Education Centre

The Normal Site includes the sports hall and the gymnasium that are used for Physical Education in the BA (Hons) in Primary Education and PGCE courses. Naturally, all students are also able to make use of the University's central sports facilities on the Ffriddoedd Site.

Outdoor learning

The Normal site has several open outdoor spaces and a small woodland, which along with a pond and ready access to the shore of the Afon Menai, provide ideal spaces for outdoor learning activities. Bushcraft, scavenger hunts, pond dipping and bug hotel building are all features of learning to teach children outdoors and along with a permanent orienteering course, the green spaces of the Normal site are waiting to be explored!
