Qualifications

  • PhD: Development and application of linked pharmacometric-pharmacoeconomic analyses in clinical drug development
    2019
  • BSc: Mathematical Physics
    University of Edinburgh, 2009

Overview

Dan is a Research Fellow in Pharmacoeconomics at the Centre for Health Economics and Medicines Evaluation. He joined in 2015 to undertake a PhD on the development and application of linked pharmacometric and pharmacoeconomic modelling to support decision making in clinical drug development. This was a three-year PhD studentship funded by the Medical Research Council’s Network of Hubs for Trials Methodology Research. Prior to this Dan spent over 4 years as a Research Associate in Cost Effectiveness Modelling at the University of Sheffield. His undergraduate degree was in Mathematical Physics.

Dan’s research interests are in the methods of economic evaluation, in particular; linked pharmacometric and pharmacoeconomic modelling and value of information methods to support drug development decisions. Since completion of a PhD, his research activities have included an economic evaluation alongside the NERVES (NErve Root block VErsus Surgery) clinical trial, and an analysis of the spatial and temporal variation in prescribing of certain high-cost medication in the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
