Research Centres

Research Centres

The creation of Research Institutes and Centres at Bangor University, which are based around specific collections, assist the University to achieve its strategic aims in relation to research excellence and increasing research income. They are also crucial in validating the importance of our collections on a national and international level.

These Centres are supported by the Archives and Special Collections and help promote the collections (print and non-print) to a wider audience. Our collections and research centres attract both undergraduates and postgraduates to Bangor University and provide the institution with a unique selling point.

The Research Institutes and Centres supported by the Archives and Special Collections are :

  • The Arthurian Centre
  • The R.S.Thomas Centre
  • The Stephen Colclough Centre for the History and Culture of the Book
  • The Institute for the Study of Welsh Estates
