The Plastic Electronics Research Centre has a wide range of deposition techniques available for device fabrication:
- Thermal evaporation of both metals and organic materials
- E-beam evaporation of metals
- Sputtering of metals and oxides

- Layer-by-layer assembly
DC and AC Electrical Measurements
DC Measurements
- Keithley 4200-SCS Semiconductor Characterization system. Range 200mV to 200V. With inbuilt computer and monitor, and easy to use software
- Keithley Model 6517 Electrometer
- Keithley Model 237 High Voltage Source/Measure Unit
- Keithley Model 617 Programmable Electrometers: 200mV to 200V, 2pA to 20mA, 200pC to 20nC, 2kΩ to 200GΩ. (2 off)
- Hewlett Packard 4140B pA meter/DC voltage source. Range +/- 100V DC, +/- 1 pA.
AC Measurements (10 mHz – 20 MHz)
- Solartron 1255 Frequency Response Analyzer and 1296 Dielectric Interface: Signal amplitude 0-3V rms or 0 to 1V rms. DC Voltage range +/- 40.95V.
- Solartron 1250 Frequency Response Analyser.
- Agilent/Hewlett Packard 4284A Precision LCR Meters. 5mV to 2V rms. DC voltage range +/-40V. (2 off)
- Wayne Kerr 6425 Precision Component Analyser.
Electro-optical Measurements
- Oxford Instruments cryostats and temperature controllers
- Jobin Yvon Horiba Triax 320, monochromator 300nm to 1300nm, with filter wheel and optical chopper
- Anritsu Optical Power Meter: 0.32 to 1.15
Circuit Design Capability
Using circuit simulation software, we can design organic electronic circuits and fabrication layout diagrams such as that below for addressing a 4-bit Memory.
