Types of LCA covered

Environmental indicators

LCA measures various environmental impacts beyond Global Warming Potential (GWP). While GWP focuses on climate change from greenhouse gases, LCA evaluates other key factors throughout a product's life cycle to improve and support sustainable decisions.

LUMIN® EPDs

This study conducted a comprehensive LCA of LUMIN® Standard Pine and Eucalyptus Plywood (Mill 1) and LUMIN® TRP (Mill 2), resulting in two Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) aligned with EN 15804. It covered all processes, including materials, transport, energy use, and end-of-life, and highlighted LUMIN’s sustainable forestry practices in Uruguay.

James Latham EPDs

This cradle-to-gate LCA assessed the environmental impact of Lathams uncoated Accoya® Cladding and Accoya® Cladding Finish Line Sansin coated, following EN 15804. Using primary production data, it covered raw materials, transport, manufacturing, packaging, and resource use. The project resulted in two published Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).

Carbon Calculator

James Latham, one of the UK’s largest timber suppliers, partnered with BC to develop an innovative carbon calculator, enhancing sustainability in its distribution activities. The tool calculates the full carbon impact of over 70% of Latham’s products, from raw materials to manufacturing, delivery, and storage. BC developed the dataset and certified the accuracy of the carbon scores.
