The prestigious ENDS Report has unveiled its latest Power List of the 100 UK environmental professionals who have made the greatest impact in the sector over the past two years.
Professor Christian Dunn, from the School of Environmental and Natural Sciences at Bangor University, has been named as one of the top 10 academics in the list for his work on wetland science and Nature-based Solutions.
Those on the ENDS Power List are nominated by their colleagues and peers, and include CEOs of environmental organisations, leading professionals and government workers.
Professor Christian Dunn’s work was highlighted for “shaping environmental science” in the UK.
Professor Dunn, who also appeared in the 2024 list, said: “I’m not quite sure how I’ve ended up on the ENDS Power List for the second time, especially when you see some of the other real big hitters on the list – it’s a genuine honour.
“The most important issue though, is what it says about the growing importance of environmental science in the UK.
“Ten years ago, issues such as wetlands, biodiversity and Nature-based Solutions were often seen as specialist interests.
“Today they're being discussed in boardrooms, government departments and communities across the UK because people increasingly recognise that restoring nature isn't a luxury - it's fundamental to tackling challenges such as flooding, water pollution, climate change and public wellbeing,” Professor Dunn added.
Professor Christian Dunn is a wetland scientist researching the use of wetlands as Nature-based Solutions
He is also the university’s Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Sustainability, and a trustee of WWT, the wetlands charity, and the British Ecological Society.
