Join us for a captivating evening as Andrew Green—renowned cultural historian and broadcaster—delves into the evocative world of Kyffin Williams, one of Wales’s most celebrated artists. Using the ten paintings held in Bangor University's esteemed collection as a springboard, Green will explore the recurring themes, emotional depth, and artistic preoccupations that shaped Williams’s iconic style.
Andrew Green was brought up in South Yorkshire and first came to Wales in 1973, after which he worked in several university libraries. During his time as Librarian of the National Library of Wales between 1998 and 2013 he came to know Kyffin Williams, and received Kyffin's large bequest of works into the Library. Andrew is the author of several books, including Wales in 100 Objects / Cymru mewn 100 gwrthrych, a satirical campus novel, Rhwng y silffoedd, and Voices on the path: a history of walking in Wales. His next book will be about Cader Idris and its artists.
