Poetry Bridges: Visiting Writers Lila Matsumoto: Poetry and Sound
To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Telford Suspension Bridge, English Literature and Creative Writing (School of Arts, Culture and Language) present a series of guest writer events to celebrate poetry as a means of bridging: connecting ideas, places and people. These are free, public events open to all, supported by the generosity of alumni through the Bangor Fund and by Literature Wales.
Lila Matsumoto’s poetry publications include the collections Two Twin Pipes Sprout Water (Prototype, 2021) and Urn & Drum (Shearsman, 2018). Her most recent publications include a poem poster ‘Roasted by myself’ (Prototype, 2025) and a creative-critical book on cross-disciplinary art practice, The Very Nature of Materiality is an Entanglement (In Other Words, 2024). A new poetry book, Talk a Blue Streak, is forthcoming from Monitor Books in Spring 2026. Lila plays in the bands Food People and Mountain Hovel Circle and teaches creative writing and poetics at the University of Nottingham. She has a particular interest in collaborating with artists and musicians. https://lilamatsumoto.com/
