Mapping the litter problem with social-media

Mae gwyddonwyr lleyg yn cael eu hannog i dynnu lluniau o'r sbwriel y deuant o hyd iddo a'i bostio ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol i helpu ymchwilwyr ddeall problem sbwriel y wlad.

Mae’r tîm, o Brifysgol Bangor, yn y gogledd, yn gofyn i bawb sy’n gweld potel ddiod Lucozade a daflwyd o’r neilltu roi gwybod iddynt gan ddefnyddio’r hashnod #LucozadeLitter.

Caiff y data a gesglir ei ddefnyddio fel rhan o broject ehangach sy’n ymchwilio pam mae pobl yn taflu sbwriel a beth ellir ei wneud yn ei gylch.

Cafodd poteli Lucozade eu dewis oherwydd i astudiaeth gan y sefydliad Trash Free Trails ddangos mai dyna oedd yr eitemau mwyaf cyffredin o sbwriel ar lwybrau beicio mynydd ledled y Deyrnas Unedig.

Wrth esbonio’r hyn y gall pobl ei wneud i gymryd rhan, dywedodd cyd-arweinydd y project, Dr Christian Dunn: “Os ydych chi’n mynd am dro ac os gwelwch chi botel Lucozade y mae rhywun wedi ei thaflu, tynnwch lun ohoni, a’i bostio ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol gyda'r lleoliad a rhowch yr hashnod #LucozadeLitter.

“Rydym yn ceisio creu darlun i weld beth yw maint y broblem mewn gwahanol ardaloedd, gyda’r nod yn y pen draw o weld sut y gall cynhyrchwyr y prif eitemau sbwriel a’u defnyddwyr gydweithio i leihau sbwriel.”

“Ac os yw’n bosibl, cofiwch godi’r sbwriel ar ôl i chi dynnu’r llun a’i waredu’n iawn,” ychwanegodd Dr Dunn.

Mae tîm y prosiect yn cynnwys Dr Christian Dunn, Dr Martyn Kurr, yr Athro Simon Wilcock a Dr Morwenna Spear o Coleg y Gwyddorau Amgylcheddol a Pheirianneg, a'r Athro Nathan Abrams, Dr Sara Parry, Dr Sonya Hanna, Dr Corrina Patterson, Dr Charlotte Doyle o Goleg y Celfyddydau, Dyniaethau a Busnes, gyda Dom Ferris o Trash Free Trails.

Dywedodd cyd-arweinydd arall y prosiect, yr Athro Nathan Abrams: “Gall pawb weld bod taflu sbwriel yn broblem ac mae hynny er gwaethaf yr ymgyrchoedd di-ri’ dros ddegawdau a fu’n ceisio gwneud rhywbeth yn ei gylch.

“Mae ein hymchwil yn ystyried a allwn edrych ar hyn o ongl wahanol: nid mater o roi’r bai i gyd ar y sawl sy’n taflu sbwriel ydyw, mae angen meithrin cyd-gyfrifoldeb y defnyddiwr a’r cynhyrchydd.

“Er mwyn rhoi terfyn ar daflu sbwriel, rhaid ailfeddwl sut mae mynd i’r afael ag ef.”

Mae elusen amgylcheddol genedlaethol flaenllaw, 2 Minute Foundation, eisoes wedi dangos ei chefnogaeth i’r prosiect ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol drwy annog ei dilynwyr i ddefnyddio’r hashnod #LucozadeLitter.

Dywedodd yr elusen, sy'n rhedeg yr ymgyrch boblogaidd #2MinuteBeachClean: “Rydym yn annog pawb sy’n glanhau’r traeth am ddau funud i gymryd rhan yn y project trwy roi gwybod i ymchwilwyr Prifysgol Bangor ble gwelsant sbwriel Lucozade - mae’n bwysig iawn bod pawb yn cydweithio i lanhau ein planed, bob cyfle sydd."

I gymryd rhan yn y project #LucozadeLitter a ariennir gan Gyngor Ymchwil yr Amgylchedd Naturiol (NERC), gallwch ddefnyddio’r hashnod wrth uwchlwytho eich canfyddiadau ar Instagram neu Twitter.
