Mr Jiarun Shen
I am a PhD researcher at the Institute for Applied Human Physiology under the supervision of Dr Geoff Coombs and Professor Sam Oliver. My research investigates thermoregulatory, cardiovascular adaptations and heat tolerance to short-term heat acclimation in occupational settings. My broader interests include exercise and environmental physiology, mechanisms of heat stress adaptation, cerebral blood flow regulation, and strategies to optimize training and recovery in occupational populations. I am passionate about promoting the integration of thermal physiology into occupational health practices and bridging the gap between laboratory research and field application.
I hold the NSCA-CSCS certification and have worked as a strength and conditioning coach in the UK (University of Edinburgh), USA (NCAA Division I, California State University, Northridge), and China (Beijing Men’s Judo Team). These experiences have shaped my research perspective and reinforced my goal of bridging applied physiology and performance science.
