Diddordebau Ymchwil
I am an interdisciplinary scientist, keen on producing real-world outputs that can be applied in numerous policy and business contexts. My particular interests focus on the interactions between people and nature, particularly within the tropics. Key subject areas include:
- Adaptation
- Climate Change
- Ecosystem Services
- Land use/cover change
- Migration
- Resilience
- Tipping points
My projects focus on ecosystems services (the benefits humans derive from nature) in rural and urban areas, using innovative methods (e.g. smartphones; https://msds.tools/).
Cyfleoedd Project Ôl-radd
I welcome applications for postgraduate research (e.g. PhD, MRes, etc) that cover my areas of interest. These include:
- Adaptation
- Climate Change
- Ecosystem Services
- Land use/cover change
- Migration
- Resilience
- Tipping points
Within these areas, I have a wide range of interests, and possible projects might include:
- Using virtual reality to better understand cultural ecosystem services.
- Using machine learning to up-scale social survey data collection via smartphones
- The role biodiversity plays in tipping points
and many more!

Disgrifiad
RUST is an Indian-UK research and impact consortium that aims to better understand and promote more integrated sanitation policy and planning between urban and rural areas in Indian cities. It will bring together research on sanitation practices, infrastructure, economic costs, institutional systems and ecosystem services to build an integrated picture of the urban and rural sanitation systems across the case study city of Hyderabad and surrounding areas. Using
Geographical Information System platforms and data visualisation techniques, the project will engage with urban and rural sanitation stakeholders to develop creative and workable policy and planning solutions that have relevance for large cities in India and other transitioning nations.
