Join Professor of Poetry and Creative Writing Zoë Skoulding for this interactive session where you'll start thinking about your own writing and participate in making a collaborative poem.
Contemporary poetry has a fascination with birds and birdsong that stretches back to long before the beginnings of poetry as a written art form. This interactive session will introduce some perspectives on birds in poetry, considering them in the context of wider relationships with the more-than-human world at a time of climate and biodiversity crises. Can poetry be a means of translating the non-human? Can it help us to create new senses of community that connect us with other species? There will be an opportunity in this session to think about ideas for your own writing, and participate in making a collaborative poem.
