In this module students will be introduced to various forms of e crime and approaches to digital policing. E crime is a complex and developing area of criminal activity which poses several challenges in terms of policing and prevention. Internet-facilitated crime refer to conventional forms of offending can be enhanced to improve the concealment of offenders and expand the pool of potential victims. Internet-enabled crimes represent a range of new crimes which target individuals and businesses. Examples of e-crime and links to organised crime will be discussed.
The module will also introduce digital policing and the numerous technologies used to disrupt criminal activity, detect crimes, predict crimes and victimisation through spatial and predictive modelling.

- different theoretical and empirical approaches to the study, analysis and explanation of crime, deviance, harm and victimisation

- the development, role, organisation and governance of efforts to reduce and prevent crime, deviance and harm, and to ensure personal and public safety and security in different locations; the role of the state and non-governmental agencies
