Overview
This module will cover the following themes: Semester One: Rheumatoid Arthritis Multiple Sclerosis Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Coronary Heart Disease Cancer Introduction to Exercise Rehabilitation and Screening Patients, Exercise Testing, Exercise Prescription
Semester Two: Cardio Protective Effects of Exercise, Aging and Cardiovascular Health, Exercise and the Autonomic Nervous System, Examination of Vascular Health,

Please note: module failure that prevents any student from passing the year will require resit assessment and attendance at Supplementary Assessment Week (exact date TBC but expected to be in July 2022).

Learning Outcomes
- Be able to critically analyse scientific papers and reviews to determine the most appropriate exercise tests and exercise programmes for people with a variety of chronic conditions.
- Critically discuss the physiological adaptations that occur with exercise training in the human body and how this relates to a range of chronic conditions.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of and critically discuss pathophysiology, symptoms, and diagnosis of different diseases
- Plan and implement a variety of suitable exercise tests and exercise training programmes for a range of patients with chronic conditions or in those during recovery from treatment.
