The SoNaRR 2025 is Natural Resources Wales's comprehensive five-yearly assessment of the state of Wales's natural environment, covering its land, water, air, biodiversity, and ecosystems, and how well these resources are being managed sustainably. Published in early 2026, it evaluates progress since the last report in 2020 and provides an evidence base to inform Welsh Government policy and planning decisions.
Jenny Oates is an advisor on marine ecosystems policy at Natural Resources Wales. She led on the marine section of the State of Natural Resources Report 2025 (SoNaRR), which has recently been published by NRW. She will present the key messages from the report on the current state and pressures facing marine and coastal ecosystems in Wales, and give a tour of the outputs to see how they might be useful for your work.
Kirsten Ramsay coordinates NRW’s marine and coastal evidence programme. She will explain how NRW decide what evidence we need and give some examples of evidence projects currently underway.
