Climate change is not just reshaping our environment- it is reshaping our cultural landscape. As our heritage sites battle against the effects of fire, rising sea levels and storm events, communities face displacement, traditions fade, and languages dwindle, we risk losing not only historic sites but also the intangible heritage that define us as communities in the face of global homogenisation. This lecture will examine how climate change disrupts cultural continuity, from the erosion of oral histories to the loss of place-based traditions. Through global case studies, we will explore the resilience of heritage in the face of crisis and discuss what can be done to safeguard the stories, knowledge, and practices that connect us to our past. How can we prevent today’s world from becoming ‘the Lost World?'
