The Bangor Fund has empowered students in the School of Environmental and Natural Sciences to create and deliver a range of initiatives aimed at enhancing the student experience through employability-focused activities - designed by students, for students.
A key outcome of this support has been the establishment of the School's Student-Led Employability Working Group. This dynamic group successfully organised an Employability Day, engaging nearly 300 students. The event highlighted the remarkable dedication of the student community, featuring insightful guest speakers, local career and volunteering stalls, LinkedIn headshots, and expert career advice. Packed with opportunities for students to develop their career readiness and expand their professional networks, the event saw a 95% student satisfaction and 100% employer contribution satisfaction.
The Bangor Fund has also supported upcoming nature and wellness walks, fieldcraft skills days, and contributions towards chainsaw licences - further enriching students' practical and professional development.
Additionally, the Student-Led Employability Working Group has been nominated for an AGCAS Academic Employability Award in the 'Co-created Employability Initiatives'. This recognition is a testament to the students' commitment to championing employability, fostering professional growth, and co-creating meaningful opportunities.
This funding has been invaluable, empowering students to lead employability initiatives that benefit their peers while laying the foundation for lasting projects within the School. It has enabled us to create impactful events and opportunities that enhance career readiness, build professional networks, and inspire future student-led initiatives.

The Bangor Fund has given us the opportunity to manage a range of opportunities for students and to enhance the learning experience. We have a whole host of ideas we're working to pull off, and the support has been pivotal in making these possible.
