Join Bangor University’s free online Summer School in Philosophy, Ethics and Religion, taking place over one exciting week from Monday 27th July – Friday 31st July.
Through ten engaging online sessions delivered live via Zoom, you will explore some of the most fascinating and controversial questions facing humanity today. From the meaning of existence and the search for purpose, to artificial intelligence, religion, monsters, morality, surveillance and the ethics of cannibalism, our expert lecturers will introduce you to the diverse and thought-provoking world of Philosophy, Ethics and Religion.
Whether you are considering studying Philosophy, Ethics and Religion at university, are currently studying a related subject, or simply have a curiosity about the big questions of life, this Summer School is open to everyone.
Please note:
- All sessions will take place live on Zoom.
- Unless otherwise specified, all sessions will be deliver in the medium of English.
- Sessions will not be recorded, so participants must attend live to take part.
- Attendance at all sessions is not required – you are welcome to join as many sessions as you wish.
- The sessions are completely free of charge, but registration is essential.

- 18:00–19:00: The Philosophy of Monsters: Medusa, Witches and Why Society Creates Villains (Session delivered through the medium of Welsh)
Wednesday 29th July
- 14:00–15:00: ChatGPT and the Meaning of Life: Can AI Replace Religion?
- 18:00–19:00: Panopticism: The Ethics of 21st Century Surveillance (Session through the medium of Welsh)
Thursday 30th July
- 14:00–15:00: What is the Existence of Existence? An Introduction to Metaphysics
- 18:00–19:00: The Ethics of Vigilantism
Friday 31st July

- 13:00–14:00: Sacred Cycles: Paganism in the Modern World (Session delivered through the medium of Welsh)
- 15:00–16:00: The Ethics of Cannibalism

Places are free, but booking is required. To register, please complete the registration form by 17:00 on Wednesday 23rd July. Registration will close at this time, and no further bookings can be accepted after the closing time and date.
