Scholarships, Studentships & Bursaries
Scholarships, Studentships and Bursaries are funded by both the University and our individual academic schools. The International Education Centre also supports international students through a range of awards for international students.
Our Chemistry Scholarship Scheme aims to help you realise your potential, our scholarships apply to all our degree courses. The new Chemistry Scholarships and Bursaries have been set up to recognise and support Chemistry excellence and achievement. On this basis, we currently offers the following entry scholarships and bursaries:
Walter and Edith Sheldon Scholarship
Following a generous endowment by Mr and Mrs Sheldon (Mr Sheldon is an ex Bangor student and now a successful businessman living and working in Australia) a named scholarship of £400 is available. Mr and Mrs Sheldon have requested that the scholarship be directed towards less well-off students to encourage them to read Chemistry at Bangor.
To simplify the application procedure for the award, students receiving maximum assistance with tuition fees and/or grants will be given first priority. Applicants for the award are asked to write a brief letter to the Admissions Tutor stating their interest in this scholarship.

There are many government and non-government organisations that provide scholarship schemes enabling international students to source funding to study at a UK university. Students should contact the Ministry of Education or Education Department in their country, as they should have details of scholarship opportunities for students wishing to study overseas. They will also be able to advise the government’s conditions for studying abroad. Students should also contact the British Council office in the country of origin, which should have details of British scholarship schemes. If there is no British Council office in the country, then the nearest British Embassy or High Commission should be contacted.
