Profile

Dr Clair Doloriert is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management and Management at The Albert Gubay Business School, Bangor University, where she has worked since 2007.

She currently serves as Academic Integrity Lead for the School. This role has particular relevance to the challenges presented by generative artificial intelligence, including its implications for academic integrity, assessment design and the exercise of academic judgement.

Until recently, Clair was Director of Year 1 Undergraduate Studies, with responsibility for supporting the academic experience, engagement and progression of first-year undergraduate students.

She is also the School’s Professional Accreditations Lead and has academic responsibility for its Chartered Management Institute accredited provision. This includes undergraduate Level 5 qualifications in Management and Leadership and postgraduate Level 7 qualifications in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice.

Clair supervises undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral research and acts as a personal tutor to students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. She has also led The Albert Gubay Business School’s Penny for Your Thoughts podcast series.

Professional Accrediation and Awards

Clair is a Chartered Manager and Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (CMgr FCMI). She is also an Academic Associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (Academic Assoc CIPD) and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). 

Clair achieved Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2020 in recognition of her sustained contribution to, and leadership of, teaching and learning.

In 2017, she received a Bangor University Teaching Fellowship in recognition of excellence and innovation in teaching, and has been shortlisted three times for Bangor University, student-led teaching awards.

Professional Accreditation

Clair is the Professional Accreditations Lead for The Albert Gubay Business School and has responsibility for its relationship with the Chartered Management Institute.

Her work includes supporting the design, delivery and quality assurance of dual-accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. These programmes enable eligible students to receive professional recognition alongside their Bangor University degree.

The School’s accredited provision includes:

  • CMI Level 5 qualifications in Management and Leadership for eligible undergraduate students; and
  • CMI Level 7 qualifications in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice for eligible postgraduate students.

Her responsibilities include supporting programme accreditation and re-accreditation, maintaining alignment with CMI requirements, advising colleagues on professional-accreditation matters and communicating the professional value of dual accreditation to students.

Teaching

Clair is currently Module Leader on 2nd year Principles of Leadership and Employee Engagement (ASB2023), postgraduate MBA/MA/ MSc Organisations and People (ASB & ABJ 4431),  Knowledge Management (ASB & ABJ 4030), and People and Organisations - a module delivered through Executive Postgraduate education. She also contributes teaching on various modules including the Doctoral Program "Foundations of Social Research".

Leadership, Administrative & External Roles

Clair has contributed to programme development, validation, moderation and quality assurance within Bangor University and its collaborative partner institutions.

She has undertaken moderation responsibilities for Bangor-validated undergraduate programmes in Business, Tourism and Events at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai. This work has involved supporting the academic standards, consistency and quality of Bangor University’s collaborative provision.

Until September 2022, Clair was Programme Lead for Travel, Tourism and Hospitality programmes delivered through Bangor University’s partner institution, the Management Development Institute of Singapore in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

As part of this role, she managed a complex quadripartite project involving the development of two new undergraduate programmes in International Travel, Tourism and Hospitality.

From 2018 to 2022, she served as an External Examiner for Human Resource Management and Strategy programmes at Hull University Business School. Clair is currently External Examiner for Edinburgh Napier and their HRM programmes.

She has also contributed to the validation of programmes and modules delivered by affiliated institutions and within Bangor University’s wider academic structures.

Clair has held other leadership roles including the Head of the Business and Management subject group on the School Teaching and Learning Committee until January 2020. The Deputy Director for Centre for Business Research, Deputy/Senior Personal Tutor for all BBS students; the Quality Assurance and Validation Officer for all Bangor Business School Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes.

Doctoral Students and PhD completions

Clair supervises doctoral research across human resource management, management and organisation studies. Her current doctoral supervision includes research on sustainable human resource management and the tensions and contradictions associated with high-performance work systems. She is also currently supervising an ESRC Collaborative Doctoral Training Partnership studentship entitled: Reconstructing Knowledge Management: A Radical Modernisation of Maintenance and Capital Expenditure Risk Modelling for a North Wales Hydropower Station.

Professional Links

Clair maintains active links with the HR and management professions through the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and the Chartered Management Institute.

She is a member of the CIPD Mid and North Wales Branch Committee and serves as its Social Media and Communications Lead. In this role, she supports the communication and promotion of professional events, research, resources and development opportunities for the regional HR community.
