Overview

Yn ystod y modiwl hwn, bydd myfyrwyr yn cael y cyfle i archwilio nifer o themâu a materion allweddol yn ymwneud â hanes Cymru yn y cyfnod modern gan ganolbwyntio ar fywgraffiadau.

Yn ystod y modiwl hwn bydd myfyrwyr yn archwilio hanes Cymru o'r ddeunawfed ganrif hyd heddiw. Mae’r modiwl yn dechrau drwy archwilio sut y gosododd newidiadau yn ystod y Chwyldro Diwydiannol seiliau’r Gymru fodern: o dwf ymwybyddiaeth wleidyddol ‘genedlaethol’, i doreth o gymunedau glofaol a ‘dyfeisgarwch’ sefydliadau diwylliannol megis yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol. Mae rhyw, trosedd a phechodau yn ganolog i hanes modern Cymru, ac mae’r modiwl hwn yn symud y tu hwnt i ystrydebau traddodiadol a chyffredin o Gymreictod, gan ddadlau bod delwedd y bedwaredd ganrif ar bymtheg o boblogaeth dduwiol, grefyddol, eglwysig yn aml yn anghywir. Yn yr un modd bydd myfyrwyr yn edrych ar sut mae tensiynau rhwng Cymru a Lloegr wedi llunio amrywiaeth eang o faterion: o wrthryfeloedd gwledig a phrotestiadau’r Gymraeg, i’r ddau ryfel byd, y sgarmesoedd dros ddatganoli, yn ogystal â digwyddiadau ar y maes rygbi. Bydd hanes gwleidyddol yn rhan greiddiol o'r modiwl hwn, a bydd myfyrwyr yn astudio'r pleidiau Rhyddfrydol, Llafur a Cheidwadol yng Nghymru, ynghyd â rôl Plaid Cymru a lliaws o 'genedlaetholwyr'. Trwy ddefnyddio casgliadau unigryw yn Archifau Prifysgol Bangor, a deunyddiau megis cyfweliadau hanes llafar, cerddoriaeth, ffilmiau a blogiau, bydd y modiwl hwn yn ehangu dealltwriaeth o hanes modern Prydain, ac yn rhoi i fyfyrwyr ddealltwriaeth ysgogol o Gymru a’i gorffennol diweddar. Mae’r modiwl yn addas ar gyfer unrhyw un a hoffai ddysgu mwy am gymdeithas, gwleidyddiaeth a diwylliant Cymru, yn ogystal a myfyrwyr sydd â diddordeb yn hanes Prydain a hanes cyfoes.
