Overview
This single semester, 20-credit module at Level Six (third UG year) includes the following elements and is assessed 100% by coursework: -
• Seven day field course studying the Autonomous Region of Catalonia and its capital city of Barcelona. A detailed itinerary is provided in the field visit handbook for the group which includes a period of individual research
• A series of one-hour staff lead preparatory seminars, Wks1-5. These are compulsory .
• Directed investigative and analytical research task to inform a 10 minute formal power-point presentation for week 5. This will be undertaken individually with each person tackling a set theme of choice relevant as background research for the study tour.
• During your field week you will gather material/observations to inform your choice of research report. You will be required to submit an individually written, evaluative and analytical report by the end of the semester

Learning Outcomes
- Ability to plan and execute a clear and well-structured individual PowerPoint presentation followed by informal peer review process(not included in Assessment)
- Competences in presenting research and field based findings, reflections and conclusions in both an essay and short report format.
- To develop skills and competence in collating, analysing, interpreting, evaluating and reporting individual research in a new geographical setting.
- To develop knowledge and understanding of a range of geographical issues as exemplified in Barcelona , Girona and rural Catalonia.
