Amcanion cyffredinol
The module is designed to prepare students with some of the psychomotor skills required during year two of the post graduate programme to meet the required NMC Essential Skills Clusters for entry to the register. During practice placements, students will be able to demonstrate the required knowledge and understanding underpinning the skills, competence and attitudes which are essential to meeting the physical and mental health needs of patients/clients of all ages, and to be able to provide safe and effective care to all patients/clients.
NB: During the 2nd year of this post graduate programme students will be completing the Year 3 competencies of the Ongoing Record of Achievement of Practice Competence.

The module content will enable students to meet the learning outcomes and requirements of the NMC (2010) essential skills clusters. Practical skills for this Year three module will include, but will not be restricted to the following nor exclude skills that may be added as required:
• CPR and airway management • Intermediate life support (ILS) Interpreting blood analysis • Electrocardiogram (ECG) • Medical device training • Manual handling • Mandatory updating

The On-Going Record of Achievement of Practice Competence Year assessment is Pass/Fail only. Students are required to successfully achieve all practice learning outcomes within the All Wales On-Going Record of Achievement of Practice Competence.
The assessment criteria for the summative written assessment are as follows:
C- C+ to Grade: To achieve a ‘pass’ on the module, students will be required to demonstrate some critical evaluation and understanding of the theoretical principles of reflection and the ability to link theory and evidence to practice.

B- to B+ Grade: To achieve a ‘good pass’ the student will need to demonstrate a critical evaluation and application of the theoretical principles of reflection and the ability to link theory and evidence to practice.

A- to A* Grade: To achieve an ‘excellent pass’ on the module, students will be required to demonstrate comprehensive critical evaluation and application of the theoretical principles of reflection and the ability to link theory and evidence to practice.
