PhD Title: Visual Social Interaction Perception
My research focuses on the visual perception of social interactions, particularly in the posterior superior temporal cortex. My first study used multivariate fMRI methods to investigate visual interaction selectivity in the pSTS and pSTG; these regions not only detect the presence of an interaction, but also demonstrate sensitivity to different types of interaction (e.g. cooperation and competition). The rest of my PhD will focus on specific interaction cues (e.g. action contingency between actors) and how these contribute to interaction perception, using MRI and visual psychophysical methods.
