LEA Awards

As a general rule local authorities offer no support for postgraduate study, while others consider only certain courses, such as the PGCE.

It is a good idea to contact your local education authority early in the year to find out what they will fund. Your chance of obtaining funding improve if the course is vocational but you will need to present a good case for an award.

They will also be able to advise the government’s conditions for studying abroad. Students should also contact the British Council office in the country of origin, which should have details of British scholarship schemes.
