Summary
This course aims to develop your knowledge of the Welsh language and your confidence to do the following when writing in Welsh at work:
- to make effective use of the various on-line and printed resources available;
- to become acquainted with some basic principles of Welsh grammar;
- to start recognising and correcting mistakes in your own written work.
Audience
Anyone using Welsh at work who wants to develop their language skills, especially written skills (fluent speakers; first or second language).
Content
- useful tips when writing a piece in Welsh;
- a simple written task relevant to your work;
- syntax:
- writing plain, easily understandable Welsh;
- avoiding English language patterns when using Welsh;
- looking at spelling, common mistakes, noun gender (masculine and feminine) and mutations;
- recognising personal uncertainties in your work and correcting them.
Tutor
Eleri Hughes is Head Tutor of the Language Skills Unit at Canolfan Bedwyr, and has vast experience of teaching language skills courses. Over the past 25 years, she has taught at Trinity College, Carmarthen; Patagonia in Argentina; Cardiff University and at Nant Gwrtheryn Language Centre. In 2015 she was awarded a Bangor University Teaching Fellowship for outstanding contribution to teaching and pastoral care.
