Overview
This module provides you with an opportunity to gain academic credit for your applied understanding of leadership in health. You must submit evidence of engaging in at least three CPD activities within your own professional role. You will then be supported to produce your portfolio (incorporating a professional summary) and your reflective journal through lectures, seminars, online resources and meetings with the course tutor.
Topics may include: Leadership theory and application Reflective and critical thinking Innovation Introduction to behaviour change Resilience Reflecting on practice Evidencing learning
Assessment Strategy
-threshold -C+ to C-•Reflective recognition of some skills and knowledge with basic recognition of skill/knowledge gaps •Small degree of independent research in continuous professional opportunities•Awareness of some development opportunities showing some future planning•Basic arguments explaining the need for future development activities•Honesty and some originality in approach, interpretation, and/or voice •Focused but with some irrelevant material and weaknesses in structure •Acceptable presentation with appropriate expression•Attempt at correct format in appropriate referencing style -good -B+ to B-•Reflective understanding of own skills and knowledge with recognition of skill/knowledge gaps •Some independent research in continuous professional opportunities•Critical awareness of some development opportunities showing realistic future planning•Coherent arguments with some evidence underpinning the need for future development activities•Honesty and some originality in approach, interpretation, and/or voice •Focused and well structured•Good presentation with accurate and appropriate expression•Mostly correct format in appropriate referencing style -excellent -A* to A-•Reflective insight into own skills and knowledge with critical recognition of skill/knowledge gaps •Extensive independent research in continuous professional opportunities•Critical awareness of extensive development opportunities showing realistic and detailed future planning •Logically defended arguments with evidence underpinning the need for future development activities•Originality and honesty in approach, interpretation, and/or voice•Highly focused and well structured •Excellent presentation with accurate and appropriate expression•Correct format in appropriate referencing style
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate an evidence-informed and comprehensive understanding of behaviour and effective behaviour change approaches for physical activity, health, and wellbeing.
- Evidence reflective self-awareness of own leadership journey in relation to own professional standards and next steps for development.
- Identify and analyse areas for self and organisational improvement showing independent learning ability and reflective self-awareness.
- Show resilience and the ability to build resilience in others.
