Assessment Strategy
THRESHOLD - F (0-29%) Very poor/fail – Failure to demonstrate an understanding of the physiological assessments, with mostly irrelevant or incorrect responses. Failure to understand the safety concerns related to testing and the level of communication required. Failure to provide adequate feedback based on the data set provided with mostly irrelevant or incorrect interpretations of the data. E (30-39%) Poor – Insufficient understanding of the physiological assessments, safety considerations and the level communication required. Insufficient understanding of the physiological concepts and how data is interpreted in the client feedback. D (40-49%) Pass - Basic understanding of the physiological assessments, safety considerations and the level of communication required when testing. Basic level of data interpretation and a basic understanding of theoretical concepts. Understanding may be partial or accuracy may be questionable. Inaccuracies and misconceptions are evident.
GOOD C (50-59%) Good – A clearer understanding of assignment requirements. Demonstrated an understanding of the physiological assessments as well as any relevant safety considerations. A clearer understanding of key information to be communicated to the participant. Demonstrated an understanding of physiological concepts and how data is interpreted and applied. Few inaccuracies and misconceptions are evident. B (60-69%) Very Good– A very good understanding of assessment requirements with very few inaccuracies and misconceptions evident. Very good responses to Viva Voce questions showing very good understanding of physiological assessments, safety considerations and the level communication required. Very good feedback provided to the client, showing very good theoretical understanding, data interpretation and application. Communication in the Viva is professional, informative and succinct. The client feedback is fit for purpose and suited to the recipient.
EXCELLENT A (70-100%) Excellent - An excellent understanding of assessment requirements with no inaccuracies or misconceptions. Excellent understanding of the physiological assessment, safety considerations and all relevant information needed by the participant. The client feedback is of a standard that the report could be passed on to a real client with no edits needed. The report is fit for purpose, with all the necessary information provided succinctly. The Viva was conducted in a very professional manner where the communication was excellent, succinct and highly relevant.
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate a theoretical understanding of physiological concepts and how data can be interpreted and applied
- Demonstrate an awareness of safety considerations for testing
- Demonstrate competency in a number of core laboratory based physiological assessments
.
- Demonstrate effective communication with a participant
Assessment method
Coursework
Assessment type
Crynodol
Description
Client Feedback Report In this assignment you will write a succinct feedback report to an athlete/coach, highlighting key outcomes from a battery of physiological assessments. The report will focus on ensuring that the client has an understanding of these parameters and how this can be applied to improve performance.
