Welcome to Professor Mike Hammond, Visiting Research Fellow for this semester
The School of Linguistics is pleased to welcome Professor Mike Hammond as a Visiting Research Fellow for this semester. Mike Hammond is a Professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Arizona, Tucson. His research focuses on phonology, in particular English stress and syllable structure, the structure of poetic meter, probabilistic phonology, psycholinguistics, and computational linguistics. During his stay at Bangor, Professor Hammond will conduct research on the categorical and quantitative phonology of Welsh, do preliminary logistical work for a grant proposal on the phonetics and phonology of Welsh, and additional work on the relationship between the phonology of Welsh and cynghanedd. We wish him a productive stay in North Wales.
