Join us for an inspiring online talk by Nerys Siddall as she explores the remarkable story of Mary Jones – the young Welsh girl who walked over twenty miles barefoot in 1800 to buy a Welsh Bible. Her determination not only became one of Wales’s most powerful stories of faith, but also helped inspire the founding of the British and Foreign Bible Society.
This session will reflect on themes of perseverance, resilience, literacy, faith, and social impact. Mary’s story continues to resonate today and links strongly to the Curriculum for Wales, particularly through cynefin, ethical citizenship, and the transformative power of education.
This is an inspiring story for all ages and the event celebrates a Welsh woman whose legacy continues to shape generations.
