
Bangor Institute for Health & Medical Research (BIHMR)
Research across the School of Medical and Health Sciences is integrated within the Bangor Institute for Health and Medical Research (BIHMR). Our mission is to sustain and grow excellence in health and medical research. We aim to conduct research of the highest standard, with UK and international impact. This is achieved by building on methodological excellence; expanding interdisciplinarity; prioritising research to enhance patient outcomes; prioritising engagement with governmental, regulatory, NHS, local authority, and 3rd sector partners to enhance policy research; and expanding and promoting postgraduate research.

BIHMR brings together the research Centres from the School of Medical and Health Sciences, and provides a platform on which new alliances and collaborations between these research groups and others from across the College of Human Sciences, and the wider University:

Research Excellence Framework
The results of REF 2014 (UoA 3 - Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy) indicated that 95% of health research at Bangor University was recognised as world-leading and internationally excellent. Our submission resulted in an overall ranking in the top 20 out of 94 universities in the UK.
