Chinese students join online Summer school on Critical thinking outside the Box!
Bangor University’s Confucius Institute (BUCI) and China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) co-hosted an Online Summer school on critical thinking outside the box. During the two weeks of summer school, the students learned academic and life skills to reflect on the information presented and couple it with their knowledge, thus enabling them to express thoughts and ideas more clearly and avoid potential misunderstandings in every area of life.
The Summer school was designed and delivered by Anthony Brooks between 4-15th July! Anthony commented:
‘The standard of student engagement in this course has been extremely encouraging. The picture on the first PowerPoint slide of a person with a light bulb shining from out of the top of their head resonated with most students who have had many such moments of realisation as ideas become clear in their heads. I was delighted that the use of new vocabulary such as assume, perspective and bias were regularly utilised appropriately by most of the students. Each student showed enthusiasm and good humour in participating in what was a very interactive course and many have widened the scope of my perception by providing insights that are compelling, original and creative. Overall, both the Chinese and Welsh Dragons are firing well.’
Fu Yao, the Chinese Director at Bangor Confucius Institute added:" The course’s distinctive feature was the dynamic interaction with the lecturer, which was highly praised by the 55 CUPL students who attended the course’.
