We are delighted to win this award. There was a large gap in terms of attractive Welsh language resources, containing content specific to Wales. We’re very thankful to Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol for funding the work and for their support during the project. It’s great to hear that the resources are now being used in schools and universities throughout Wales.

This accolade is going to be really beneficial as we continue to spread the word about these resources through schools and other further and higher education institutions. We are both passionate about seeing more people choosing to learn and study sociology through the Welsh language. We hope that this series contributes, in some small way, to giving people the confidence to make a positive decision about studying in Welsh and contributes to the growth of studying sociology through the medium of Welsh.

Dr Cynog Prys,  School of History, Law and Social Sciences, Bangor University

Prof Nichola Callow, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education at Bangor University said, “I’d like to congratulate Cynog, Rhian and the team on winning the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol’s Excellent Welsh-medium Resource  Award, which is a fantastic achievement.

“We are very lucky to have lecturers like Cynog and Rhian at Bangor, who are dedicated to advancing the Welsh language resources available in their field. They spark students’ interest a subject by making it thought-provoking and relevant, and in so doing, help to build a workforce of the future that will make a difference for our region and beyond.”

Bangor University will be showcasing the resources on their stand at the National Eisteddfod in August.
