Bangor Fund Project Shortlisted for Prestigious National Award
A ground-breaking collaboration between Bangor University’s Counselling Service and the North Wales Clinical Psychology Doctorate Programme was shortlisted this autumn for a prestigious national Award.
The project was made possible by generous donations from Bangor University’s alumni to The Bangor Fund. The Bangor Fund enables the University to deliver a margin of excellence or an element of additionality to the student experience.
Thank you to our Bangor Fund donors!
Our team of students recently completed a record-breaking telethon. Our wonderful alumni pledged to donate a further £115,000 over the next five years to The Bangor Fund. These gifts will allow The Bangor Fund to provide extra bursaries, field trips, sports opportunities and services, which all make a tremendous difference!
Thank you again to those of you who donate!
Projects supported by The Bangor Fund
Thanks to the gifts made by our wonderfully generous alumni, during the 2016/17 academic year, The Bangor Fund has able to allocate £53,000 to 9 specific projects across the University, as well as block grants to Colleges and student services. The primary purpose of the Fund is to enable the University to deliver a margin of excellence or an element of “additionality” to the student experience and we are pleased with each project’s potential in this regard.
Most of these donations are made during the student-led telethons and enable every alumnus - no matter the size of their gift - the opportunity to give back to their University. The student calling team loved speaking to those alumni they were able to catch up with and found the whole experience greatly rewarding! None of these wonderful and varied awards could have been made without your much valued contribution. Thank you to all who donated.
Some of the awards granted this year will provide:
- A nine-day field course for students from the School of Ocean Sciences
- Overseas travel bursaries for students within the School of Biological Sciences
- An Internship and Work Placement scheme
- The development of The Welsh Jobs Fair
- International Summer School excursions
- Students’ Union trips and activities
- Focused activities to expose students to the Welsh language
- A conference for the School of Music
