Laurence Joseph Harries Jones
I am the ESRC PhD studentship candidate in financial economics at Bangor University. I started my university education with a BSc (Hons) in Physics from the University of Warwick, while at Warwick I had the privilege of studying some business and finance modules at the Warwick Business School (WBS) where I gained an enthusiasm for finance that carried with me after I graduated, where after I applied for and won the Gold Scholarship at Bangor University, helping me fund my MSc in Banking and Finance at Bangor University.
Following graduating from my MSc, with a Distinction, I worked for two years as a Data Analyst and Statistician at an environmental research organisation and then as a Mathematician for a gambling auditing company. Having gained more life experience I decided to follow my passion for finance and applied for the PhD here at Bangor University, where I focus my research on credit rating agencies.
- MSc Banking and Finance - Bangor University

Credit ratings agencies, credit ratings
Summary of Current Research
I am still very much shaping the direction my research will take, but it is clear that I will be focusing on the impact of the introduction of new regulation (post 2008 financial crisis) on credit rating agencies.
