Welcome to a 'Head of School Blog'
Welcome to this first 'Head of School' blog. I'm aware that the School has embarked on an ambitious programme of development, and through this blog, I hope to ensure that everyone can keep abreast of these.
We are building on a very strong academic, professional and clinical base. However we need to find new ways of ensuring the School can play a key role in improving healthcare and health in North Wales and beyond. This will mean that we continue to deliver the very best professional workforce development programmes in partnership with the NHS; generate new evidence of 'what works' in healthcare through our research programmes; and work in new ways to ensure health and other services can use the resources we have in the School to improve the experiences and outcomes of patients and other service users.
Quite rightly, the University works hard to ensure that our students have the best possible experience during their time with us. This means that in addition to academic programmes that help them be the best possible practitioners and clinicians they can be, we also need to ensure they feel part of the School and University. My hope is that our students will keep a strong relationship with Bangor University and our partner NHS organisations throughout their professional careers. As a School, we are seeking new ways of working in partnership with our students in all that we do. I'm delighted then to be writing this first blog entry with students, describing the ways that we've worked together to recruit new Lecturers into the School.
