Bangor University School of Healthcare Sciences Wrexham Campus Taster Day for the healthcare professions
A hugely successful Taster Day was held on Thursday 8th February for anyone considering a career in nursing, radiography or midwifery.
The Taster day was organised by staff and students from the School of Healthcare Sciences, Wrexham campus (closely situated to the Maelor Hospital in Wrexham)and was designed to give individuals looking to pursue a career in healthcare a snapshot of current courses for student nurses, midwives and radiography.
Just under a hundred delegates from the local area and further afield enjoyed a student led interactive session on the use of Social Media in healthcare and participated in a range of workshops designed to provide a flavour of the wide range of courses offered at the Wrexham campus, and included clinical simulations.
After lunch, delegates were able to meet with healthcare practitioners from Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board who provided insight into their work and own career journeys.
Reflecting on the day’s success, Dianne Rimmer, Lecturer in Nursing, Wrexham campus said; “we hope this event will have inspired people living locally and further afield, both school leavers and mature students, to consider a career in healthcare in the future”.
