You told us, we listened: the 2020 Staff Survey outcomes
The feedback we received from the last survey highlighted that, overall, staff felt:
- The University is a good place to work (87%)
- Proud to work for the University (84%)
Staff talked positively about equality, bilingualism, the working environment and support from their immediate managers.
However, feedback also identified areas where improvements needed to be made. This included:
- The University’s Executive needed greater visibility
- Communication needed to be more effective
- Staff weren’t consulted with on key issues
- The long-term vision for the University wasn’t being shared with staff
- More attention needed to be given to workload management
In response to your comments, since 2020 we’ve since introduced a range of measures to improve on these areas, such as:
- Regular Staff Bulletin
- Improved internal communications strategy and process
- All-staff consultations on University strategies (new University Strategic Plan; Research; Teaching & Learning; Welsh Language and Bilingualism; Estates, etc.)
- Executive blogs
- Review of the promotion process
- Workload Allocation Model (WAM) pilot
- New training opportunities
- Health and Wellbeing developments
- People and Talent Strategy
- Health and Wellbeing Strategy
- Effective Managers and Research Leadership Programmes
- Enhanced Bangor Benefits package
