University Health and Safety Committees

The University Health and Safety Committee meets three times a year and reports to directly to the University Council. The Health and Safety Committee advises the University on all matters relating to health and safety within the University and oversees the implementation of the Health and Safety Policy.

The composition of the Health and Safety Committee includes members of Council, Senate, Trade Union Officers, Students Union and Departmental Safety Co-ordinators. Agreed minutes of Health and Safety Committees are available from Health and Safety Services.

Sub Committees

In order to provide the Health and Safety Committee with specialist advice, several sub-committees have been established. These are:

  •     The Biological and Chemical Health and Safety Sub-Committee
  •     The Radiation Health and Safety Sub-Committee

The Chairperson of each of the Sub-Committees is automatically co-opted as a member of the University Health and Safety Committee and the Chairman of the University Health and Safety Committee may attend all Safety Sub-Committees. If you wish to have a copy of any minutes from these Sub-Committees please email healthandsafety@bangor.ac.uk.

In addition to the Safety Sub-Committees, Safety Working Groups are set up on an ad-hoc basis to advise and, where appropriate, produce guidance and policy notes for Sub-Committee and Health and Safety Committee consideration.
