Coronavirus (Covid-19) Information

Bursaries and Scholarships

As you would expect from a university that places great emphasis on student support, Bangor is keen to offer extra help to students. Bursaries and scholarships worth over £3.4M are available for new and returning students.

For new students in 2020, these include Merit Scholarships of up to £3,000 for those who excel in the annual Entrance Scholarships (The closing date is 15 January 2020 for 2020 entry).

For those from the UK (excluding Wales - please see information about Money Support) and the EU, the Bangor Bursary means you could receive up to £3,000 in extra financial help over the duration of a three-year course.

Please choose from the menu for further information on what is available and your eligibility for the various awards on offer.

New - Digital Hardship Fund

Because of the current need for online learning, we have set up a digital hardship fund to support students who experience barriers in accessing online delivery. Students with a household income below £30,000 who can demonstrate need are able to apply for a digital hardship award of up to £500 payable after registration at the University.

For PhD and Research students, please make sure you have identified and secured a source of funding (e.g. scholarship, self-funding with partial scholarship, Government or other sponsor etc) for your tuition fees and living costs BEFORE submitting an application to study.

Other Sources of Funding

There are many government and non-government organisations that provide scholarship schemes enabling international students to source funding to study at a UK university. Students should contact the Ministry of Education or Education Department in their country, as they should have details of scholarship opportunities for students wishing to study overseas. They will also be able to advise the government’s conditions for studying abroad. Students should also contact the British Council office in the country of origin, which should have details of British scholarship schemes. If there is no British Council office in the country, then the nearest British Embassy or High Commission should be contacted.
