Overview
This module serves as the first hands-on experience in the programme, offering practical insights into identifying complex environmental issues arising from human impacts on biodiversity. It will provide students with an opportunity to engage directly with real-world conservation projects, fostering understanding of conservation challenges.
• Coastal and terrestrial ecosystems • Basic sampling of plant and animal communities

- To gain practical field experience in a range of ecological settings and habitats
- To gather and analyse data to address a research or technical question.
- To learn how to design field experiments and surveys and apply the theoretical knowledge obtained in other modules to real world settings.

Description
Each group (max. 3 students/group) will present in oral form the results and conclusions of their research project. Students will present a research question, objectives, data gathering design, sample processing, data analyses and results, to end with a final discussion. Items under evaluation will include validity of the question-methods-results workflow, ability to communicate, and ability to pose and address constructive criticism. The ability to provoke a debate within the audience will be positively considered.
