Advanced decision making, teamwork and prioritisation for patient safety in a range of contexts, including major incidents. •Shared decision making/Patient and public role •Evidence based decision making processes •Decision making theory and its application to diagnostic reasoning and clinical decision making •Critically exploring the importance of clinical context in decision making with reference to service users’ perceptions, beliefs, aspirations, concerns, expectations and views. • Critical exploration of intrinsic and extrinsic factors that may impact on personal clinical decision making

Assessment Strategy

Learning Outcomes

• Articulate rationale to support decision making related to nursing care across the lifespan in a range of contexts in Adult nursing

• Critically debate a range of theories underpinning nursing decision making in Adult nursing.

• Critically evaluate the impact of patient safety policy and management of risk in relation to individual‘s care across a range of adult nursing settings.

• Identify, select, assess and critically evaluate the nature of informed decisions, risk assessment and hazard avoidance in adult nursing
