Overview
Applicants must have successfully completed Year 2 of an undergraduate degree in psychology or a closely related field before acceptance into the BA Psychology (Direct Year 3 Entry) programme.
To be eligible, applicants should have completed coursework covering at least 4 out of the 6 core psychology areas listed below (at level 4 or 5), as well as demonstrating competency in research methods.
Core psychology areas and competencies
1.Cognitive Psychology (e.g., perception, attention, memory, decision-making)
2.Social Psychology (e.g., group dynamics, social identity, interpersonal behaviour)
3.Biological Psychology (e.g., neuroscience, brain function, behaviour)
4.Developmental Psychology (e.g., lifespan development, child psychology)
5.Individual Differences (e.g., personality, intelligence, mental health)
6.Conceptual and Historical Issues in Psychology (e.g., ethics, history of psychology)
In addition, applicants must demonstrate competency in Research Methods, including:
· Research design & methodology (e.g. experimental, observational, qualitative research methods)
· Data collection & analysis (e.g. statistical techniques, survey methods, experimental methods)
· Interpretation of psychological research (e.g. ability to critically evaluate research findings)
