Women in Science at Bangor University

The Equality Challenge Unit's Athena SWAN Charter addresses the underrepresentation of women at senior levels in science, technology, engineering, medicine and mathematics (STEMM). In May 2015, the charter was extended to identify the work that women undertake in senior roles in arts, humanities, social sciences, business and law disciplines (AHSSBL).

The University has achieved the Athena SWAN Bronze Award which identifies our commitment to gender equality and diversity. This award recognises that the University has solid foundations for eliminating gender bias and developing an inclusive culture that values all staff.

We are now addressing the issues in the Athena SWAN action plan.

This year the University has also introduced a 'Women in Science' bursary for women graduates who wish to undertake a taught Master's degree in one of the science Colleges.

We recognise and celebrate women working in science. Click here to find out more about the achievements of woman who work here at Bangor University.
