The best thing about the degree was the field trips. The university is set in perfect surroundings for looking at what you’re studying. The final year trip to Tenerife was brilliant. Spending the day in the sun on a 2000 year old lava field definitely beats sitting in a lecture theatre.

I would recommend students to take a sandwich year because mine helped me to achieve so much. The knowledge and experience of working that you gain help you to take it up a level in your final year. I also wouldn’t have got onto a relevant graduate placement without that experience.

In my career I hope to become a successful Environmental Consultant, helping to manage man’s development and interaction with the environment sustainably and to protect the invaluable nature conservation resource in the UK . I’m aiming to achieve Chartered status in the next 5-10 years.
