Bangor Business School is renowned for the innovative nature of our postgraduate education. We established the first MA in Banking and Finance offered by any UK university in 1973, and more recently we were the first to offer MBAs in Banking & Finance and Islamic Banking & Finance.

Today, we continue to innovate by offering contemporary syllabi informed by the latest industry research, alongside a variety of study options.

Our postgraduate courses are designed for candidates with degrees or related backgrounds, who wish to develop their expertise and further their professional careers. The MBA programmes provide a more practical postgraduate course to complement our long established MA and MSc programmes; while the research degrees of MPhil and PhD offer an opportunity to make a significant and original contribution to knowledge in the chosen subject area.

Enhanced study options

Bangor Business School offers a range of options to enable students to enhance their postgraduate study experience:

  • January intake: most of our Masters programmes offer the option of a January start date alongside the traditional September intake
  • 10-month programmes: a select number of programmes in the subject area of Finance can be studied in 10 months instead of the usual 12.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) pathway: our Accounting, Banking and Finance related programmes provide the opportunity to follow the CFA specialist pathway and to acquire the skills to complete the CFA Level 1 examination – the world’s most respected and recognised professional qualification in finance.
  • Chartered Management Institute (CMI) dual accreditation: many of our programmes (Business, Management and Marketing subject areas) benefit from dual accreditation by the CMI.
  • Professional accreditations: some of our programmes benefit from additional accreditations which may allow graduates to claim exemptions from (or credits towards) parts of certain professional qualifications.
