Andrea Martin Merizalde



Andrea Martin started her PhD in Finance in September 2015 at Bangor University. Prior to joining Bangor University, she got her BS in Economics from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia and studied a Specialization (1-year postgraduate program) at Universidad Externado de Colombia. She also has an MSc in Financial Risk Management from the University of Glasgow.

Before pursuing her MSc studies at Glasgow, she worked as Senior Financial Analyst for BRC Standard and Poor’s, a Colombian branch of Standard and Poor’s Rating Services, where she discovered her interest in financial risk and credit ratings. Following her professional experience and research interest prompted by her MSc, she applied for a PHD in Finance at Bangor University, where she won the Bangor Business School (BBS) PhD Studentship. Currently, her PhD research at Bangor University is focused on credit rating agencies and while studying the PhD, she has gained teaching experience working as Teacher Assistant (tutor) in Advanced Corporate Finance.
